The Philadelphia Corporation for Aging has an Emergency Fund program that was established in 1981 to provide crisis assistance to low income elderly Philadelphia residents who have exhausted all other resources.

Gertrude Weaver, Grant Writer at WPFSI, was contacted on January 21st by a senior in the neighborhood that was in need of oil.  She then reached out to PCA who referred her to Haddington Multi Services for Older Adults.  Once the referral form for the emergency fund was received and the information from the client was gathered, it was faxed back to PCA.  On January 24th, the client received 100 gallons of oil.

The client was very happy and appreciated the prompt service that was rendered through WPFSI.

There are other emergency resources, including food, shelter and other utilities, available to assist seniors age 60 and older through PCA.  If you or someone you know need assistance, click the link below to find out more.
